The iPhone is espe­cially use­ful while trav­el­ing. It has built-in GPS, inter­net, access to Google maps, and an abun­dance of appli­ca­tions geared towards the trav­eler. I thought it would be use­ful to do a nice lit­tle roundup of use­ful travel appli­ca­tions for the iPhone, bro­ken down into sen­si­ble categories.

For a lim­ited time Lonely Planet is offer­ing their San Francisco City Guide (iTunes link) for free.

I came across a great lit­tle appli­ca­tion to help me out. ATM Hunter, from MasterCard, is a free app for the iPhone that helps you find ATMs located around the world.
