The National Trust for Historic Preservation has named The Crooked Road: Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail one of its 2010 Dozen Distinctive Destinations. The Crooked Road was selected for blend­ing eco-tourism and small town charm with the Appalachian region’s musi­cal her­itage, pro­vid­ing vis­i­tors with a unique cul­tural expe­ri­ence that spans 300 miles across 19 towns. In the month of February, The Crooked Road will be par­tic­i­pat­ing in the first-ever pub­lic online vot­ing con­test for the 2010 Dozen Distinctive Destinations Fan Favorite.

From store­front the­aters in the neigh­bor­hoods and Tony-award win­ning regional com­pa­nies to major Broadway shows, Chicago is known through­out the world for its exten­sive selec­tion of critically-acclaimed the­ater. On any given day, vis­i­tors can ven­ture out into Chicago’s diverse com­mu­ni­ties for a pro­duc­tion at one of the city’s many off-Loop the­ater com­pa­nies or see a musi­cal in the bustling his­toric down­town the­ater district.

March is an espe­cially excit­ing time in Ohio, as the birth of spring offers a num­ber of ways vis­i­tors can enjoy the sea­son in full bloom. Gather the fam­ily together and cel­e­brate the luck o’ the Irish in Dublin — Ohio, that is. Explore the sur­real inter­ac­tion between humans and ani­mals through Francisco Toledo’s art­work in the Glass City or flock to Hinckley for the return of one of Ohio’s most famous nat­ural phe­nom­ena. Or, if you’re look­ing to be inspired by true girl power, com­mem­o­rate Women’s History Month in the heart of the state’s capital.
