Chicago Skyline — trailing storm clouds

Our photo of the day is this magnificent shot of Chicago’s downtown skyscrapers as they are smothered in some low hanging storm clouds, taken by Doug Siefken almost a year ago.

It is a beautiful shot, with the sort of coloration that makes it immediately clear why Chicago did most of the stand-in work for Gotham in The Dark Knight movie.

It evokes the mystery and architectural wonder that is the Chicago skyline.
